So . . . what' next?
Important Info for Brio Missionaries!
After you’ve been accepted for the Brio Missions Trip, you’ll receive an acceptance letter from your friends here at Brio...along with additional info to help you get started: information on getting a passport, fund-raising ideas and more.
In February, you’ll start receiving monthly newsletters with important updates and even more details to help you stay on track. Make sure to share them with your parents!
Get ready for an amazing summer, Brio missionaries. We're glad to have you on our team!
Fund-raising and Financial Stuff
Once you've been accepted, you'll immediately want to begin your fund raising for the trip. Big World Ventures® will mail you a payment plan so that you aren't responsible for one large sum of money all at once.
Final payment date will be April 1, 2008. If for some reason you don't raise all the money you need by that date, Big World will hold the money you've raised in an account for you for 1 year so you can continue fund raising for the next year's trip. (Because donations for your trip are tax deductible for your donors, it's against the law for money to be refunded to you by Big World Ventures.)
Take a look at the sample support letter below. We encourage you to download and personalize this letter so you can send it to your friends and family!

FAQs
- What's the weather like in Lima in July?
The seasons are opposite of ours in cities below the equator, so July is their winter. The weather will be chilly in the mornings and evenings with low temps around 56 degrees F. During the day, it may get up to the upper 60s or even into the 70s. You'll want a warm jacket or sweatshirt most evenings.
- What's Lima like?
Lima, the capital city of Peru, is a city of 9 million people, many of whom have never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. The primary religion is Catholicism, but often laced with superstition and traditions handed down from generations of mixed ancestry.
- Where will we stay?
The trip begins in Miami, Fla. with 3 days of drama training before we go to Peru. While in Florida, we'll stay at a local hotel, typically the Embassy Suites. While in Lima, our entire group will stay at the El Pueblo Conference Center. You'll have access to Internet to stay in touch with friends and family. Your parents will be able to call in by phone if they need to reach you.
- What if I get sick?
We will have a staff of professional medical providers with us just to tend to the needs of our group. They'll be able to deal with minor illnesses and medical issues.
- What if I don't raise enough money?
Once you're accepted, Big World Ventures will send you a personalized payment plan, so all your money isn't due at once. The final payment deadline will be April 1, 2008. Anyone not fully paid by that date will have to wait until the next year' trip and continue fund raising. Big World Ventures will hold the money you've already paid in for the next year. Payments are non-refundable as they are tax deductions for your donors and refunding the money to them or you would be illegal.
Our monthly newsletters, which begin in February, will have lots more detail and will answer most, if not all of your questions. Read them carefully, and you'll be well informed with everything you need to know.
- Do I need a costume?
YES. All teen participants will have a role in the 20-minute evangelistic drama "Toymaker's Son." You will be assigned a specific costume that you'll be responsible to bring but not necessarily wear yourself. Big World will send out your costume assignment in May with specifics of what that includes. You can check out photos of each costume for ideas below.
The Peruvian people are friendly and very responsive to the message of the Gospel. They warmly accept the ministry and service projects we perform for them.

Once we get to Miami, you'll find out what role you'll be playing in our drama, and costumes will be exchanged among your teammates. We'll be able to make minor sizing adjustments, but if you follow the directions you'll receive for your costume, it will work—we promise!
*If you don't bring the costume you're assigned, you will be required to pay for us to find something in Miami, which is difficult and time cons
